LOCATION: Base camp is about 55 miles south east of Salt Lake City, Utah, with easy access. From Heber City, take Hwy 40 east, 20 miles. Go over Daniel's Pass, past Daniels Summit Lodge and once you cross the Strawberry River, which is marked, you will see a wide graded road with a turnout on your left. Keep straight on this road, north, all the way into camp.
If you are coming from the east, we are about 50 miles west of Fruitland on Hwy 40. After CO‑Op Creek and just before the Strawberry River, turn right on the graded road. Ride Camp is situated at 8000 ft in a pleasant, open valley with a creek running through it, and is surrounded by Aspens and pines. There is plentiful water for horses but please bring your own culinary water. Most of the vet checks are in camp, and the out vet checks are easily accessed, so crewing is simple.
You can get cell service out on Hwy 40, but unfortunately your cell phones will not work in camp. The closest convenience store, restaurant and fuel is at Daniels Summit Lodge, 4 miles west of the intersection with Hwy 40. A good tack and feed store is Heber Farm and Ranch, 20 miles west on Hwy 40. The 2010 ride fee is $85 per day for the 50s and $70 for the limited distance. No advance money is needed but we request that you enter online, by fax or by phone so we know how many riders to expect and can better provision the ride. Our excellent veterinarian team will be the same as previous years: Kathy Backus and Matt Crane.
